On Monday, the 6th of November, Marion McDaniel Lodge hosted a Special
John Wayne Night.
WB Seneca Erman(WM) who conferred John’s 3rd Degree on July 11, 1970
along with WB James Wild(JW) and WB Henry Knapp(SD) told our Brothers and
Guests in Open Lodge how the the 3 Masonic degrees were conducted and
reminisced on their experiences. One theme throughout the discussions was the fact
that John Wayne was a most polite, personable and friendly man who worked diligently
to complete in full all the Masonic requirements of the degrees.
After their discussions, it was opened to questions by the Brothers and Guests
who asked many questions.
In attendance at Marion McDaniel were MW Brother Rex Hutchens, Grand
Master of Masons in Arizona, WB John Shattuck, Grand Orator,and WB Marvin Hoffman, Grand Sword Bearer. In addition, several visitors from other Lodges and
many guests were present to enjoy the proceedings.
It was a truly memorable evening when we brought back the Brothers that
made John Wayne a Master Mason. A video was made of the proceeding and will
be added to our John Wayne Collection.
